Track signing guidlines

If you are producing tracks and would like to get your tracks released on Stereo FX, please read these guidelines on what we are looking for in artists

  1. Is your music up to standard professional quality?
  2. With only a year or 2 experience producing tracks it may not be enough experience. The process of producing music is a lot more complex then you might think at first and takes many years to get it all right. Keep working and keep at it and you will get better and better. We are fairly strict on this because we send out promo to well established, big name DJ's, if we keep sending them music that they are not interested in, then they wont support us and will ignore the music we send them in the future.

  3. How do I know if my music is up to standard professional quality?
  4. There is no doubt that when any of us finish a track, we love it to bits as we know we've worked very hard on it. Now, we love it, but do other people love it? Give your tracks out to DJ's to play in clubs, monitor the crowd responses, see if the Dj's re-use the tracks in their other sets, send your tracks to Radio stations, do whatever you can to get your tracks out there.

  5. Are you marketing yourself?
  6. We are looking for established artists who have many fans behind them, preferably DJ's who are performing their own music regularly. For every demo we receive we monitor who the artist is, we look for you online, we look at your facebook and soundcloud pages, look for comments on your previous tracks, look for fans and followers on your profiles.

  7. What captures our attention in the demo's we receive?
  8. The first 10 seconds in the demo needs to capture our attention without needing to skip through the track. It must sound powerful and captivating. Please keep your hihat levels down so they almost sound like they're in the background, strong basslines but not too heavy, good lead riffs, non-repetitive music, good original transitions and effects, airy pads and good percussive riffs. VOCALS and Vox FX always make a huge difference!!! Filters, delays, phasers and other effects are so very important. Keep your music interesting and catchy. Every track needs a hook which people can remember it by.

  9. Are your tracks mixed and mastered properly?
  10. Mastering is a very important part of your track. The mastering results depend on how well the track is mixed and pre-mastered. It takes years of experience to get this right, learn the methods of EQ and compression, prepare your tracks well for mastering and let someone else who specializes in mastering to master your tracks. It's cheap and worth every cent. If you are mastering yourself, please don't forget to Remove DC Offset! Get the harmonics and anologue sound right in the track.
